Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher with 17 years experience.I have worked in a range of state and independent schools.I am approachable, welcoming,patient and encouraging. I am always kind and positive and always focus on a learner's strength. I believe in praise and raising and learner's self-esteem to ensure success.My breadth of experience and qualifications have helped me understand the specific needs of all learners. I have two children of my own and understand the worries and anxieties of parents with regard to their child's education.

Teaching Experience:

I trained at Leicester University in English and Drama. I have taught both subjects throughout years 3 to 13.I specialize in literacy difficulties - reading, writing and spelling problems and have a great range of resources, tests, ICT software and books. I have taught the very basics of reading and writing, through to the preparation for 11 plus, SATs GCSE and A Level. I am a qualified dyslexia specialist and have much experience in teaching learners with specific needs. I am CRB checked for both Bromley and Greenwich.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a full assessment of reading, writing and spelling ages. From this I can identify any gaps in learning and will fill the gaps using a variety of techniques.My teaching is multi-sensory (using all senses to learn) and my sessions are varied, but focus on over learning.
I use ICT software such as Word Shark and Tizzy's First Tools. For this reason I need to tutor at home.
My aim is to identify areas of weakness in literacy and to work intensively to provide helpful learning strategies.I welcome special needs learners and those with specific learning difficulties. I will also welcome adult learners.

Qualifications:

• OCR Level 5 teaching learners with pecific learning difficulties.
• PGCE English and Drama
• BA Hons English
