Information About Laura:

Personal Description:

have spent the past 7 years at the University of Manchester studying Chemistry. After four years I obtained a 1st class (Hons) in Chemistry with Studies in Europe and I have now come to the end of my PhD (pending thesis submission). The third year of my undergraduate degree was spent in Montpellier, France, studying Chemistry in French leading to a high level of the language.

Teaching Experience:

During my PhD I have demonstrated in labs to undergraduate Chemistry students, explaining the theory behind their practical work. I have also run Chemistry tutorials for undergraduate bioscientists including some one on one classes for those who struggled to understand certain aspects of the course. I have also participated in a large amount of Outreach work, working with primary and secondary school children to help them obtain a better understanding of Chemistry, including Salters' Chemistry Camps which are week long residential courses for 15 year olds.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe each tutee is an individual and must be treated thus. I would be happy to discuss the needs of the tutee prior to commencing tutorials in order to ensure that these are met to the best of my abilities. Ultimately I feel that patience and enthusiasm for the subject is required in order to tutor somebody well and I believe that I have these qualities in abundance.
