Information About Denitsa:
Personal Description:
I am a positive person who has an enthusiastic outlook on life. I love my job and I get a great sense of achievement from seeing my students develop and grow as individuals.
If I can have a positive impact on their future, I feel I am doing my job well. I am an effective communicator, both in writing and verbally and I have a strong ability to plan and organise effectively my daily teaching.
I cope very well with pressure and can adapt my style or teaching methods, when needed, to deliver consistent results. I have an understanding of the bigger picture and the pressures that are placed on the school.
My travels to different countries, my ability to speak foreign languages and my teaching experience abroad are good asset to my teaching practice. I know what diversity means and I know how to work with mixed ability students and those from different cultures.
My teaching experience has helped to become a good leader for my students and colleagues by giving good solutions to different situations and problems.
I always implement effective behaviour management in the classroom and do my best to continually develop both personally and professionally.
Teaching Experience:
I am a Qualified Teacher and I hold a British Bachelor degree in Education. I have nearly 4 years of international teaching experience and 7 years of teaching experience in the UK curriculum. I am currently teaching English as an additional language at Joseph Leckie Academy and the assignment requires planning and preparing lessons according to the UK Curriculum. At the same time, I have successfully completed the Teacher Specialism Subject Training for Qualified Teachers with a concentration in teaching a second subject - German.
During my recent CPD, I have learned a broad range of teaching strategies that I use and apply in my daily teaching job. For example, I constructed my lesson plans by first consulting the Common Core Standards for clear objectives and learning goals. Every student's experience was enriched by differentiating lessons for learning styles, IEPs, gifted/talented abilities, as well as cultural and socio-economic needs.
My experiences studying and teaching abroad have proven to be an asset in the classroom. I taught German and English lessons to EAL students in KS3 and KS4. I supported most them by preparing differentiated lessons for their GCSE exams.
Tutoring Approach:
Throughout my teaching, I have taken the opportunity to develop my own teaching ideas and strategies, especially in line with the literacy and numeracy strands. Literacy is especially important in every subject because it is necessary for pupils to be able to understand terminology in order to fully appreciate the subject. With this premise in mind, I incorporate literacy into my lessons through defining key terms and offering guidance on how to structure reports, essays and other work. Above all, I encouraged students to assume a very active responsibility for their own learning. My students enthusiastically made strategic choices, reflected on their learning processes, collaborated often, and submitted constant input. Every one of my students knew what we were learning, why we were learning it and how it applied to the world beyond the classroom.
Assessing pupils' work is essential in encouraging them to progress and build upon their knowledge. I employ a variety of assessment methods to encourage this progress, and hope to continue developing assessment methods to ensure pupils build a sound subject knowledge. Hand in hand with assessment is continual monitoring of pupil progression, which is vital to ensure a positive, independent pupil-centered environment for learning.
