Personal Description:

I am a semi-retired ex - Head of English and have taught in both state and private schools. I am married with two grown up children who have been through the education system in local state schools and independent schools.



Teaching Experience:

I have taught for over 30 years both English Language and English Literature up to A-level, most of this time as a Head of Department. I have been tutoring for ten years with a very good record of improving grades. I have helped many pupils achieve a grade higher than that which they were predicted.



Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring on a one - to - one basis can be very intense so I like to make lessons relevant but add in an element of humour. The first lesson takes the form of an assessment then an individual program of study is devised for the student. Every student is different and lessons are tailored to their learning style. I have worked with many pupils to improve confidence as well as enhance their ability.
