Personal Description:
I am a 25 year old woman who is currently studying German and European Studies with the Open University. I have previously studied for 2 years at Sheffield University where I read German with Dutch and have also spent time studying German in Germany and Dutch in Brussels.
Teaching Experience:
As a student at Sheffield University I took part in a tutoring scheme through the University where students would tutor pupils taking German GCSE at the local school. I found this to be a very rewarding experience and would now like to continue with this on a self-employed basis. I also took part in a voluntary scheme in Brussels which involved helping primary school children in disadvantaged areas with their English.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to take a structured approach to tutoring based on a clear plan of what the pupil needs to achieve and in which areas specific attention will need to be focused. I have plenty of German material (books, DVDs, activity books) which can be used to give variation to the sessions whilst also using specific material from the syllabus the pupil is following. I am very enthusiastic about languages and believe helping others to feel the same enthusiasm is the key factor in tutoring.
