Personal Description:
I studied film history at school and university. I have nine GCSEs, two A-levels and a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Diploma in English Literature from The Open University: I know how important it is to be self-motivated in order to achieve academic success. I also have a certificate to teach English as a Second Language, from TEFL International in Rome, Italy.
Teaching Experience:
I have four years experience within the primary school setting and nearly five years as a TESOL teacher to students of all ages, nationalities and abilities. I am experienced in tutoring numeracy SATS to KS2 and maths to KS3, English to KS3 and ESL to all ages and abilities for all purposes including FCE and CAE exam preparation.
Tutoring Approach:
I was a primary teaching assistant for nearly three years, in which time I successfully integrated a child on the autistic spectrum into mainstream, worked with ADHD and general behavioural children, taught small groups and whole classes, supported the ICT network and taught ESL to the foreign child in the school, a beginner to English. Now, I am an ESL teacher, with five years experience, specializing in young learners up to university-entry level but with experience of teaching all ages. I studied for my degree and English literature diploma with The Open University whilst teaching, and one of my A levels is in Film Studies, one of my GCSEs in German. I'm fun, imaginative and professional, understand the needs of the students and ensure my lessons match them. I teach in a way that is understood by the student, so as to make learning enjoyable and progress fast and long-lasting.
