Personal Description:
I'm a seventeen year old student in Brighton. I'm currently studying for my A Levels at Sussex Downs College in Lewes.
My mother is Spanish and has spoken to me in Spanish from birth, hence why I'm bilingual and sound like a native speaker.
I also lived in Alicante (Spain) for a year at the age of eleven so I have a good knowledge of the culture and Spanish customs.
Teaching Experience:
I taught at Stanford Junior School with my mother as part of a Spanish after - school club for a year, two years ago.
I'm currently tutoring GCSE Spanish students at my college. This consists of 45 minutes in which 20 minutes is spent speaking in Spanish, and 25 minutes helping with homework or anything they did not understand in class, such as grammar.
Tutoring Approach:
My main area of focus is speaking as that is what students learning a language tend to find most challenging, however I will also include reading and writing in the sessions. I'll happily set homework for my students (though it is optional) and for the younger ones I have plenty of fun ways of learning in order to keep them focused.
Having lived in Spain, and having a Spanish mother, means that I have a lot of background knowledge which also comes in handy, especially for those who want to study Spanish at college/ university level.
