Information About Jillian:

Personal Description:

I am an experienced primary school teacher who has worked in Independent and State schools. I currently tutor children from Foundation stage to Year 6 in 1 - to - 1 sessions. I teach to the national curriculum and over 80% of my last 4 classes were working above national average. I am very interested in the special needs side of education and love being able to make a difference to a child`s education.

I also run a small group tuition company in Farnham.

My current 1 to 1 spaces are: Monday 6:05 - 7:05, Wednesday 4:00 - 5:00, and Friday 3:50 - 4:50 and 5:55 - 6:55. I have group Maths spaces on Thursdays between 3:40 and 6:20 and Saturdays between 9:00 and 2:00.

1 to 1 lessons are taught at my home where I have access to a variety of resources and computer activities and group lessons are taught in a local community building.

Teaching Experience:

After qualifying as a teacher I supplied at State Schools in and around Surrey, before taking the step to work at a successful Independent School. Having now moved to Farnham, I have decided to move back to the State system. I teach to the national curriculum and over 90% of my last class worked above national average. I am very interested in the special needs side of education and love being able to make a difference to a child's education.

I also have experience of the 7+, 10+ and 11+ exams and have 100% success of getting pupils into a top selective school in Surrey.

Tutoring Approach:

I make lessons both educational and fun, as I believe no-one can learn if they're not enjoying what they are doing. However, I am also aware there are times when fun is not appropriate and learning must be serious in order for results to be achieved.

I keep up to date with current changes to the syllabus and adjust lessons not only according to these changes, but also to each individual child.
