Information About Natasha:


Personal Description:

I am a 22 year-old graduate with a 2:1 Bsc degree in Psychology. I would describe myself as a very friendly, down to earth person. I have a passion for learning, and helping other people to do so. Having received tutoring myself from an early age, I now wish to be a tutor and pass on the advantages that this has given me.

Having had piano tutoring from a young age, I am of grade 6 standard and have achieved grade 5 in music theory and clarinet. Therefore piano and music theory are some of the area's I am interested in tutoring.

In September next year I am aiming to begin a PGCE teacher training course in Primary Education. Since completing my degree in June 2008 I have been fortunate enough to have worked at Buckingham Palace and Harrods, as well as volunteering as a teaching assistant 1 day per week at 3 different schools.



Teaching Experience:

I had my first teaching experience during my school work experience placement at a school for conductive education. It was this which first sparked my interested in working with young people in an educational environment. Following this, whilst carrying out my A Levels at school I assisted in some year 7 and 8 German Language lessons.

Following the completion of my degree I decided to take on some voluntary work as a teaching assistant in 3 different schools. Here, I learnt the importance of adapting teaching styles to suit the needs of the pupils. 2 of the schools I was working at were in very unprivileged areas, where as the other was in a very affluent area. The characters and learning styles of the children were very different accordingly.



Tutoring Approach:

I would like to talk to parents prior to the tutoring session about their opinions on the pupils learning style. Establishing whether they are more of a visual, auditory or tactile learner will help me prepare for lessons.

I will set activities for the pupils to complete between sessions, and report back to parents about their child's progress.
