Personal Description:
I am a self motivated, approachable geoscientist and am deeply passionate about my subject. Since graduating with a MSc in 2008, I have gained professional experience in different aspects of geology. Before starting a PhD next year I am keen to teach more aspiring geoscientists as well as offer career guidance.
Teaching Experience:
Through my BSc and MSc degrees I gained experience tutoring younger students and class friends. I also assisted my careers department by offering advice to stage one geoscientist.
Tutoring Approach:
I have been told that my teaching style is stimulating and enjoyable. I am well aware that aiming towards excellent exam performance is essential, but I hope to help students develop their own interest in their subject which will carry them beyond examinations.
I understand and appreciate time issues when examinations are looming (mass of material, organisation, etc) and therefore value consistent revision plans throughout the term. Regularly discussing topics and concepts one to one in a relaxed environment and meeting revision plans can make all the difference.
