Debra - Nottingham tutor

Information About Debra:

Personal Description:

I am a positive, enthusiastic and friendly person who loves to inspire learners. I believe everyone can make good progress given a learning environment and teaching that suits them.
My work has involved working with a variety of learners: gifted, SEN and in the community with adults and I have taken great pride in the achievements of all of them.
I love writing, reading and I regularly perform and aim to bring these passions, skills and enthusiasm to my tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for six years in the community and in mainstream and special education and am currently working part time teaching English and Drama in a secondary school.
Over the years, in my teaching, I have written and produced several school productions for both able-bodied and children with physical disabilities and enjoyed excellent exam results for both my gifted students and for those with SEN or weaker skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to be flexible and tailor my teaching to the needs and ability of the student whilst keeping the solid expectations and boundaries that, I believe, enables learners to make rapid progress.
I believe in encouragement, creative approaches and clear explanations - with lots and lots of patience! Most of all, I believe in the students.
Praise is very important; it enables students to feel pride in their achievements. I am always ready to give lots of praise to those achievements!
