Personal Description:

My career has been in design, interior decoration and fine art. I have usually worked from London, but my work has also taken me to France and Spain.

My return a few years ago to teaching reminded me of how rewarding it can be, for tutor and pupil.



Teaching Experience:

After graduating I worked for two years as a private tutor. I was teaching people who had passed their A levels and were preparing for university entrance examinations. My work at that time also included some supply teaching for tutorial colleges at GCSE and A level. Six years ago I became trainer for a national charity, and for two years directed training at my local branch.



Tutoring Approach:

I have found that people learn more easily when they are relaxed and interested, and that what they have understood they do not forget. Understanding and confidence are therefore more effective than learning by rote. It is the responsibility of the tutor to put pupils in this frame of mind so that they can learn to the best of their ability.
