Personal Description:

My name is Jessica, I'm 26 years old and live in Garforth, Leeds. I've been studying Spanish since I was 14 and have lived in Spain for the last two years. My 1st class degree is also in Spanish and I spent a year of my degree working in a Spanish secondary school. I am completely fluent in Spanish and know a lot about the culture of Spain as well as the language which I think is extremely important. My Spanish accent is of the purest Spanish as I have lived in the North of Spain. I have often been mistaken as a native Spanish person as I have a very good Spanish accent, crucial for teaching a modern foreign language.



Teaching Experience:

I've always been interested in a career in teaching. During my 3rd year of university I worked as a Language assistant in a Spanish Secondary School. Then in my 4th year I took part in the Student's Associate Scheme. I worked alongside a Spanish teacher in a Secondary School in Newcastle. After graduating I did a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification and since then have been working in Spain teaching English. I am just about to start a Masters in Linguistics and English Language Teaching to improve even further.



Tutoring Approach:

Why do we learn a language? To communicate. For this reason my approach to teaching over the last couple of years has been concentrating on speaking and listening. However, to pass school exams the written side can be just as important. After carrying out a short level test and assessing each student's needs I adapt my teaching to suit each individual.
