Personal Description:

Currently studying for my MA in Education, I am currently at The John Fisher Scool, Purley. Having left Harris Academy, South Norwood as Head of Economics and Careers, I am now Head of Department at The John Fisher School, Purley. Before this I was Acting Head of department at a leading Private girls school in Surrey. Having left Nottingham University, I took time out of teaching to start my own business. This got me to the last 10 of the HSBC Entrepreneur competition.
I am now co-authoring my 5th textbook with Harper Collins Publishers. These have been for both the BTEC, GCSE and now A-level qualifications. I have had some very pleasing result so as a tutor- last year I had 6 different tutees, all achieving their target grade or above, with 3 A grades. I have since had had two referrals just from that group.

Im a very keen sportsmen and have played rugby and hockey at a high level. Overall, I see teaching as a fun and energetic activity and this comes accross in my relaxed classroom.
I have extensive experience in tutoring, and have been fully booked for years now. I am happy to provide references, both from this website and private tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my PGCE in Nottingham,teaching in two large mixed comprehensives. I taught Business Studies and Humanities. I then took 6 months out of teaching to set up my own business before accepting the Acting Head of departments job at Sir William Perkins's school in December 2007. I then joined the teaching staff at The Harris Academy, South Norwood where I became Head of Economics and Careers. I have recently moved to The John Fisher School, Purley where I am now head of Business, Economics and enterprise.
I have also taught at Trinity School, Croydon in a university placement as well as a vast range of primary schools around Surrey.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to make tutoring as fun and relaxed as possible. The emphasis is on strong learning tools which incorporate relevant and up to date examples. My sense of humour and passion have been cited by headteachers and university observers and this comes accross in my tutoring. All my prices include petrol so there will be no additional add-ons.
