Personal Description:

I have recently qualified as a secondary History teacher at the University of Exeter, having previously achieved a 2:1 BA (hons) in History and Archaeology from Cardiff University. My degree background gave me a thorough grounding in most areas of the current curriculum and having recently aquired my PGCE I have a good and up to date grounding in the current requirements of the curriculum and various exam boards. In addition to teaching I have extensive experience working with young people through my involvement as a member of staff in the Air Training Corps (Air Cadet Organisation).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in both state funded schools and independant schools which has given me opportunities to work with pupils in a variety of different ways. As such i am adept at working with pupils of all abilities in groups and on a one-to-one basis. I have experience teaching a wide range of historical topics from year seven through to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that every pupil is able to achieve to the very best of their ability if subjects are approached in the right way. Study of learning theories and teaching techniques through a part time masters in education (which I am currently completing with the University of Exeter) has equipped me to help pupils process and absorb information in ways suited to the individual learner.
I believe that learning should be a positive experience and I make every effort to inject my teaching with interest and try to ensure that as far as possible learning history is not a chore but a pleasure.
