Personal Description:

I have recently graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a first class BA (with honours) in media and communication.

I have studied media and communication at GCSE, A-Level, and BA degree level. These studies have included various approaches to media theory, film studies, video and audio writing/production/editing, and web design, and I would consider myself able to tutor in any of these fields for GCSE or A-level students.

I also studied psychology at A-level, as well as taking two psychology modules in the first year of my degree.

Since leaving university, I have been working as a cafe supervisor due to the lack of current jobs within the media field. I am currently volunteering for two production companies in a video editing role, and am also currently setting up my own freelance web/digital design company.

Teaching Experience:

Although i have no direct teaching experience, the teaching field is one which i have a keen iinterest in, as I am heavily considering taking teaching qualifications next year (I am currently saving money to pay for this).

Tutoring Approach:

I would say that the most important factor to consider in an approach to tutoring would be the tutee themselves., determining a tutees strengths and weaknesses regarding a subject, before working out how both factors can be improved.

As regards to the media field, a mix of theoretical, literature, and practical approaches is often the best way to grasp a subject (e.g. using recommended academic sources, then applying the theory described in these to primary news/media sources, and then researching further academic resources).

I also regard organising time management as a key factor to learning, especially during exam revision periods, and helping a tutee to plan and keep to a revision or learning timetable is also important.
