Nick - Dereham tutor
Information About Nick:
Personal Description:
I am 25 years old and I hold excellent A-levels (focused predominantly on Science and Humanities), and a 1st class honors Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia. I have just completed a graduate-entry Medical Degree (MB BCh) from the School of Medicine, Cardiff, and I am due to graduate in July of this year. I start work as an academic junior Doctor, working in General Surgery, in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital this August.
I also sit on numerous academic committees and boards around the UK and I am incredibly interested in medical research. I have two academic manuscripts ('the use of fibrinogen concentrate in acute haemorrhage' and 'the use of statin therapy in preventing heart disease in the community') under consideration for publication at present by leading International Journals. I have presented four additional research projects at National or International meetings in the past 24 months. I have recently been awarded an academic prize for my contribution to cardiovascular and respiratory medicine.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 3 years of tutoring experience to date. My students have all done very well and achieved excellent grades. I enjoy tutoring and feel that at 25 years old I am not intimidating or too 'teacher-like', but instead I act more as a mentor. I engage with my students and teach them the art of science, and nurture their ability to succeed.
Alongside tutoring, I am also able to help students on coursework projects/dissertations by offering advice, guidance, proof-reading, and editing. I will also consider any other tutoring tasks, such as preparing students for medical entry examinations (including UKCAT, GAMSAT etc). I am also happy to teach small groups of students (max number 5). I have a fantastic office facility at my home from which all my tutoring is based.
Tutoring Approach:
I am able to tutor biology students from GCSE through to degree level and all other science students to GCSE level. My methods will aim to make learning enjoyable for my students, in a relaxed but studious atmosphere and my tutees will find me to be friendly, approachable and patient throughout their support. I will supply all of the learning material required and monitor my students' progress in order to give them constructive feedback throughout.
