Personal Description:

I am 28 years old, approachable and very patient. I like to keep fit by playing sports such as football and badminton.

Teaching Experience:

I graduated in 2005 from The University of Birmingham, obtaining BSci in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics. I'm a Professionally Qualified Teacher (QTS), teaching Mathematics and tutoring students from Primary (KS2) up to A-Level. I also have experience of tutoring Literacy to Primary school children. My teaching experiences have given me the expertise to teach a variety of children; I feel comfortable teaching pupils who have mild special educational needs (SEN) or who are gifted and talented (G&T). I currently teach in Grammar School in Birmingham, where I enjoy the challenge and interaction I have with a variety of pupils from all backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

I have produced my own schemes of work that are tailored to suit the needs of individuals based on their ability and not their age. I feel that this approach to teaching not only encourages a child to strive to achieve higher, but also keeps them challenged and engaged. I run small group sessions, encouraging team work and creative thinking. I try to base my teaching around "real-life" context so that children find topics easier to understand. Homework is set every lesson lasting approximately one hour. I would finally like to add that my approach is based around ensuring pupils understand the core concepts of mathematics, hence short term "quick-fixes" are avoided. Taking a medium to long-term approach to support your Childs needs always provides better results in the long term. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask. :)
