Information About Andrew:

Personal Description:

At 22 years old, you may feel as though I am too young to effectively tutor your children. However, I have much experience in the education sector. I am a student teacher at the University of The West of England and have spent, so far a total of over 80 days assuming the role of a teacher.

My course allows me to teach children aged 5 to 14 with a subject specialism in Science. I am an articulate and confident person who aims to achieve the best from each of his pupils. I pride myself on my approachable demeanor and understanding nature. I will work with my pupils on any problems they may face and aim to understand any complications from the childs perspective.

I am privately educated myself and as such I have a good understanding of Common Entrance examinations. My qualifications include both GCSE's and A Levels on top of other extra curricular achievements, including gaining my First Degree Blackbelt & two 'Outstanding Achievement' awards in Tae Kwon Do.

Teaching Experience:

My background is in teaching, as I am currently a student teacher at the University of The West of England. My passion is for teaching and ensuring that each of my pupils learns in a way that is conducive to them. I strive to ensure that each of my lessons are interactive and enjoyable.

I am fully CRB Checked and can present my certificate upon request. My classroom experience is varied, involving 1 to 1 tuition and whole class teaching and has built both my interpersonal and my behaviour management skills.

I have also spent the last 12 months private tutoring an 8 Year Old in Mathematics. Through this one to one teaching, her National Curriculum level has risen from a mid range level 2 to a high level 4, placing her amongst the highest achievers in her class.

Tutoring Approach:

I personally don't enjoy the 'Iron Fist' approach and believe very much in making a child as comfortable with learning as possible. Schooling shouldn't be all fun and games, but I strongly believe children learn best when they want to learn, and this is my philosophy. I always aim to make my lessons interactive and enjoyable but remain focused on the learning outcome for the lesson.
