Information About Sarah:
Personal Description:
I am currently undertaking a career change and studying to be a Secondary Science teacher. I have a PhD in Molecular biology and my BSc degree is in Molecular Biology and Genetics. I have a huge enthusiasm for science and am enjoy inspiring others to feel the same way!
Summer revision and catch-up sessions, to consolidate learning and understanding and boost confidence with individually tailored sessions
Teaching Experience:
As a fully registered SEA (Science and Engineering Ambassador) and as part of my previous role in science outreach I visited many schools and translated complex scientific ideas and theories into interesting and engaging sessions for a wide range of ages. I also worked closely with primary and secondary school teachers to design target resources to the age group and ability of the children.
I was as an active member of the teacher scientist network (TSN) from 2006 to Oct 2008. I have experience of translating complicated scientific concepts and research into a format accessible to pupils aged 10/11. In addition, I have worked closely with teachers to design experiments that are fun and enable the scientific curriculum to be approached in a new, exciting and engaging way.
I enjoy working with children both in a caring and a leadership role.
At American summer camp 2004 I planned, prepared, and delivered a programme of structured activities for children between the ages of six and sixteen and worked in a team with other counsellors to manage and organise activities and duties. Camp Counsellors USA (CCUSA).
Tutoring Approach:
I take a friendly approach to tutoring and find that a sense of humour helps the learning process along.
