Personal Description:
I am a 29 year old, qualified teacher. I have recently moved to Brighton and am looking to carry on tutoring in the evenings. I have a degree from Chichester University for maths and education (Yeh I know... sounds really exciting!!) which sounds more impressive than it actually is.
I love to joke and have fun and this comes across in my classroom environment and teaching.
Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced Primary school teacher of 8 years. The majority of my career has been spent working with 9-11 year old pupils, many of whom have had learning needs and difficulties.
I was math co-ordinator in my old school for 5 years and class maths teaching as my speciality.
Tutoring Approach:
My relaxed personality comes across in my teaching style and helps those I teach to feel comfortable and not pressured. This atmosphere develops pupils' confidence and ensures they are happy to learn from their mistakes rather than feel they can't do the work. My most recent tutee's mum contacted me regarding her daughter's maths level. She was year 6 and not predicted to get the government's expected level of level 4 in her SAT tests.
After identifying her weaknesses, I developed a programme of sessions that helped her gain a secure level 4.
