Pete - Lydbury North tutor

Information About Pete:

Personal Description:

I am told by native speakers that I speak very fluently and have a great accent in both languages - I really enjoy tutoring and speaking both languages ! I get a real buzz from the interplay between myself and the student and spend a great deal of time preparing sessions so that i can deliver the best for my students. I visit Spain and France regularly, love watching Spanish and French DVDs and listening to music of Hispanic and French origin. Since retiring from full-time teaching (see below) I have been personal tutoring for 15 years and have had students - both adult and children (as young as 5 !) some of whom have stayed with me for several years, as well as GCSE and A level students who have kept me as a tutor throughout their courses.

Teaching Experience:

I gained my degree in Spanish and French from London University (Queen Mary College) and a Teaching Certificate from Sheffield City College of Education. I taught for almost 30 years in a mixed, partially selective secondary school in London until 2001 when I retired to the country (!)from my post as Deputy Headteacher. I had experience there of teaching from beginners to 'A' level. I also marked GCSE speaking exams for 5 years - from 2005-2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very careful to tailor my approach to the strengths/weaknesses of the student . I use a variety of media - traditional text books , self-authored worksheets, cd, dvd, powerpoint, past papers from exams, etc . My experience over the last 30 years enables me to vary my delivery during the lesson as required, aiming to match the materials and methods I use to the needs of the student.
