Information About Lisa:
Personal Description:
I am a mother of 3 children aged 5, 3 and 1 and a stepmother to a 14 year old, who also lives with me.
I completed my Maths degree at Manchester University 10 years ago and have recently completed my teacher training.
Teaching Experience:
I have spent the past year working in two schools in Stoke-on-Trent, during which time I have taught Maths lessons to children from year 7 to year 11.
My stepson is about to start his GCSEs and was not a very confident mathematician, however I have been helping him to understand mathematics and he is now doing well in maths at school.
Tutoring Approach:
I will come to speak to your child and yourself, and would like to see some of their school work so that I can see what level they are working at.
I will discuss with you and your child what you think they need to work on; this may be particular topics, you may prefer to work alongside the work being taught at school, or you may want to work on maths in general.
I like to try to rotate interactive methods of teaching with textbook questions and answers as I find this keeps children more interested and motivated than writing all the time, which in turn increases their learning.
