Personal Description:
I'm Laura and I am 39 years old and have been teaching for the last 12 years. I live in Cranleigh. I have taught in London and Winchester for the last 12 years before moving to Bramley. I live with my husband, 3 children and 1 cat.. I'm active, friendly and love teaching and working with children.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught in London for the past 10 years, whilst there I worked in Year 1, 3 and 6. I then moved to working in a school in Winchester and was in Year 6. I led English across the school and helped to prepare the Year 6 pupils for the new and challenging SATs for reading, grammar and maths. When working in London I gained a lot of experience when working with EAL children and SEN children. I have also worked with children preparing for the 11+ and Year 7 pupils to help them in the Yr6/Yr7 transition.
Tutoring Approach:
When tutoring I try to make it practical and fun. I look at what the pupil struggles with and why they are struggling with it and then I try to overcome their issues. I try to make the learning as personal as possible. For preparation for SATs, I make sure they have access to a lot of past papers so that there are no questions that will throw them and they get use to the 'test technique'
