Information About Emma:

Personal Description:

I am a friendly and enthusiastic 25 year old female tutor, who is patient and caring towards her students. I have lived in Beijing and I have had a French partner for five years, so I can teach pupils about different cultures as well as languages! I have also studied languages at Degree level, so I understand how difficult it can be, but it is definitely possible! I'm sure we can achieve great results together.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a Foreign Language to children and adults of all ages and abilities in the UK and in China, (in schools, businesses and privately).
I have worked for the Widening Participation office at the University of Leeds, where I taught Mandarin Chinese to pupils in local schools. I taught Beginners' Chinese to pupils who came for Languages Open Days at the University of Leeds, which was always great fun, and very rewarding!
I now work for the Office for National Statistics as a Chinese Community Advisor. I also work occasionally as a supply teacher, and I teach Chinese at a local school 'lunch club' on a weekly basis Teachng is my passion and my life!

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy interactive, dynamic teaching. I feel that the most important aspect to learning a language is the SPEAKING!!! We can only learn by our mistakes if we have the confidence to make those mistakes in the beginning! :-) So, let's have fun with languages and enjoy our classes!
