Natasha - Liverpool tutor
Information About Natasha:
Personal Description:
I am extremely passionate about working with Young People to encourage and enable them to achieve all that they want to and to reach their full potentials. I currently work as a voluntary Youth Worker at St Bridgets' and St Thomas' Church in Wavertree, Liverpool and run all the Youth Events/ Projects there. I enjoy working with Young People and find it very easy to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds. I firmly believe that each Young Person is independent and it is therefore important to work to their individuality and find what is the best way to support them. I am very interested in Theatre and Performance however believe it is important and very useful to have a relatively strong educational background. Personally, I have a very strong and varied educational background and have experienced many different cultures.
Teaching Experience:
I spent 3 years between 2004-2007 tutoring several young girls of primary age in English Mathematics and Science regularly. I have also been teaching Drama for the past 6 years in Non-School setting both practically and theoretically however I am also very familiar with the School Syllabus for Drama and Theatre Studies. As well as having taught in a Non-School setting I have also worked in High Schools teaching design (mainly Set and Costume design as part of Drama) as well as PSHE. MY Experience extends to overseas as recently I spent 2 months teaching at an English-Speaking School in Colombo, Sri Lanka working with both Primary and Secondary Ages Mathematics and Drama.
Tutoring Approach:
As mentioned above I think it is important to tailor the tutoring experience to each Young Person as much as possible. I begin looking at the School and Home Work that the Young Person is doing (especially if the child is of Primary Age as it is often more School specific and dependant); therefore I will work with them on the work they already have, extending it and furthering it with either my own written work or if appropriate with purchased educational books etc. I like to ensure that the Young Person finds the environment comfortable and is open to sharing honestly with me as their tutor; therefore I will create times to be honest and talk, though this will not eat into their educational development. With younger children I will often use rewards to encourage them to try their best.
