Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh where I studied Portuguese and Spanish, achieving a 2:1 degree with distinction in spoken Portuguese and Spanish. In fact, I am half Portuguese, and spent much of my childhood living there, so can provide a teaching service that is as much about the culture as it is about learning a new language. I have also spent some time in Spain.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught children and adults English on a voluntary basis in Brazil in 2005, and in 2007 I was accepted onto the British Council's Comenius programme to become a Teaching Assistant in Spain for 4 months. I spent this time working at a secondary school, assisting in both teaching and course preparation.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a fun but disciplined approach to teaching, because although I aim to make learning a language an enjoyable and active experience (especially where children are concerned), it must also be stressed that you cannot learn a language overnight - it takes practice, practice, practice!
