Personal Description:
A patient and calm tutor who tailors tuition to the personal needs of his tutees. I listen carefully to the individual needs of those I work with and help them find within themselves the wherewithall to overcome past difficulties. I seek to find the potential and abilities within everyone, even where they do not see them within themselves and instill the confidence to achieve their objectives.
Teaching Experience:
An experienced professional trainer. I have helped several people find new approaches to learning in mathematics, science and ICT. I have mentored and taught people at all levels of their development, including my own two children.
My 2010 A level tutees (in all subject areas) achieved an average two grade improvement in exam performance given an average 20 hours of tuition.
Tutoring Approach:
Unlike schooling, I believe that there are many ways and methods of looking at any given question or problem. Often, the first (or typically, only) method presented might not be the best way for a particular individual to learn or use. I prefer instead to understand the particular learning needs of the individuals I tutor and to find the methods that best develop their aptitudes. With this change in perspective in their tool box, my tutees are able to approach their learning with broader perceptiveness and renewed interest.
