Personal Description:

I am a qualified primary school teacher and am therefore fully aware of all curriculum requirements. I also have a masters degree in Visual Anthropology. Although I studied a social science, I still have a great interest in Maths and Science, which my A-Levels focused on. I am hard working and very reliable. I understand that every individual learns differently, hence why one on one tutoring is so important. I will tailor the class to individual needs and take a fun but effective approach to teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in both year 2 and year 6 as a trainee teacher and am aware of SATs exams and preparation. I have worked in a primary school with children with special educational needs as a learning support assistant and therefore have experience in SEN approaches to teaching.

I have 4 years experience in private tutoring of children aged 5 to 16, some of whom have special educational needs. I have had excellent feedback on my tutoring and some of my students have had fantastic achievements such as progressing 4 sub-levels in a year, attaining a scholarship for a private secondary school and winning awards and competitions.

I also have experience in teaching English as a foreign language. I spent a year in Thailand volunteering as an EFL teacher in two primary schools and one to one. I hold a TEFL qualification gained in 2008.

Tutoring Approach:

As said earlier, I believe the importance of private tutoring is to tailor the lesson to the individual being taught. I aim to be firm but kind and encouraging. I want the individuals I teach to have the desire to learn and to enjoy it. I have learned tricks and activities to use with one on one teaching through the experience I have had and have received good feedback from my lessons.
