Susan - Nuneaton tutor

Information About Susan:

Personal Description:

I am experienced in primary and secondary teaching both in England and in the USA.
I am flexible in my approach to teaching, depending on individual's learning styles. I understand that a range of strategies must be used to develop all parts of the brain and to encourage students to be analytical by asking them open ended questions.

I enjoy new challenges and am a reflective practitioner. My own personal interests include writing poetry and children's stories, playing the guitar and singing, as well as all sports.

Teaching Experience:

Five years at primary level. year one, year three and year four. I have also taught small groups up to year six of EAL students (English as an additional language) I have coordinated several subjects and written schemes of work. I have worked on a Maths Enhancement Project with a Professor from Exeter University. I then spent two years in North Carolina teaching Maths and Language Arts.
I have taught in the secondary school for the last three years, up to GCSE standard.

Tutoring Approach:

I think working one to one or with small groups is much more effective because individual needs can be met. Targets can be shared with students and regularly reviewed.
Help can be given in more detail and homework reviewed thoroughly so that individual's weaknesses can be quickly picked up on and corrected.
Students feel more able to ask questions without fear of reprisal from peers and can concentrate in a more comfortable environment.
