I have taught student chemistry with the AQA Chemistry exam board.
Summer 2010: 80% of my students received their target grade. 75% of these students achieved either an A or an A* grade.
Summer 2011: 100% of students attained their target grade; two of my students gained an overall A grade
Summer 2012: 100% of students attained their target grade; one student gained an A grade
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching is strict, focused and enjoyable. Most of the time, I use the examining boards' specification as a checklist to work through all the material that a student should know, understand and can apply in ready for January or June examinations.
A typical lesson would consist of prepared background theory relevant to their examining board, with example questions- demonstrating a set-by-step method of how to work things out, followed by a series of exam style questions and some homework. Students are encouraged to keep their own log recording all topics covered and noting any areas of difficulty, which enables them to take responsibility of their own development. Any areas of difficulty are tackled at the next lesson and discussed with further examples.
Parents are kept informed of what is accomplished each lesson and can be provided with a monitoring record of how well the student has done each lesson.
I provide exam papers for students in their tuition, looking at various different styles of questions to enable them to gain enough practice.
100% of past students that I have taken on for AS Chemistry, have also asked me to tutor them for A2 Chemistry.
