Personal Description:

I am a hard working, responsible and creative 19 year old student at Northumbria University who has regularly excelled in the areas of media studies and plan to teach this subject after I have completed my degree after being greatly inspired by my own media studies teacher during my time at Wickersley School and Sports College.

I have vast knowledge of film from theory to practical and received 49/50 on my practical project whilst at college in my hometown of Rotherham. As well as excelling in the subject I have been offered work experience at three different film and television companies over summer across the country and have been on two different sets before (Children In Need and The Jeremy Kyle Show). As well as being creative with film I am also a published poet with work published by Dogma Publications and Howard Ely in America and England.

Teaching Experience:

At present I have little teaching experience but plenty of experience with children, the majority of my experience in teaching comes from assisting my peers with their essays and projects. My experience with children is mostly from babysitting children aged from 6 months old to thirteen years old and whilst working in Italy on a campsite regularly assisting with the children's groups that catered for children from 5 years old to 18 years old.

Tutoring Approach:

I find it very important to understand the young persons needs and thus plan the sessions around them using materials such as textbooks so we can fully engage with the curriculum.

Staying positive is extremely important. I like to create interactive tasks for the child in order to help them learn and develop transferable skills that will help them in all their subjects as well as improve the subject they need assistance in.

Finally I think it is very important to make the session fun, learning should not be seen as a chore and as I have great enthusiasm for the subjects I am able to teach I believe this is a great help to the individual as they learn not only to see learning as fun but teaching also.
