Personal Description:
I am an Actor / Drama Facilitator with years of experience of working with young people. As an actor, I have worked steadily for the last fifteen years in all aspects of the business, working regularly on stage (including Bristol Old Vic, Hampstead Theatre and Birmingham Rep) on radio (recipient of the 2006 Norman Beaton Fellowship) and on screen (opposite, amongst others, Jane Horrocks, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sean Penn). I have had my own radio play commissioned by the BBC and am staging a one man show in Bristol in 2013 with a national tour to follow.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught for a number of years, in both primary and secondary schools as well as in EBD centres and Pupil Referral Units. Drama and Music were my main areas but I have also taught RE, MFL, Citizenship, Careers and Media Studies. As a Drama Tutor, I have worked both with young people and adults alike, helping students prepare for auditions for drama school and jobs and also generally assisting people to better access their creative potential.
Tutoring Approach:
I am relaxed yet focused on the task in hand and have both tutored and mentored young people of all ages as well as adults for a number of years. I believe humour is key to productive learning but also making the student feel valued and proactive in their learning.
