Information About Jennifer:
Personal Description:
I grew up in East Anglia and moved to Scotland to study Philosophy at the University of St Andrews, where my subjects in Honours included Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ancient Philosophy, Ethics and Philosophy of Mind. In my final year at St Andrews I was also awarded a certificate by the University for the successful completion of their Teaching English as a Foreign Language course. Since graduation I have completed postgraduate work at the University of Glasgow, and tutored English in Edinburgh. In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre, art galleries, museums and travel.
Teaching Experience:
From July 2006 to July 2009 I tutored English Language to small groups and on a one-to-one basis. Levels ranged from Elementary to Advanced and included General English, Business English and English for Academic Purposes.
While at University I was a student tutor (2003-2006) and assisted in English classes and Philosophy Higher groups at local High schools.
Tutoring Approach:
I listen carefully to the particular needs and interests of the individual. Lessons are varied and comprise a mixture of activities to maximise learning. I think carefully about the balance and structure of activities in each lesson, and use a variety of first-class resources. In practice every lesson is enjoyable and kept alive with a sense of humour.
