Information About Peter:

Personal Description:

I am a friendly and charismatic 23 year old with a passion for all areas of science. My real area of expertise is neuroscience, but I have a deep understanding of most aspects of human biology. I achieved a very strong A grade in A2 Biology (scoring 100% in one module) and went on to pursue my interest in this subject by completing a Biomedical Science degree at Leeds Uni. I am currently self-employed, providing data analysis and consultancy services for private health care providers.

Teaching Experience:

I have a passion for explaining things to others, and feel that I have a gift for helping people to grasp abstract and complex concepts. Although I have never worked as a teacher or tutor I have a lot of related experience. While at university I worked part-time for a school events company for 3 years. In this role I visited many schools across the North, delivering enterprise education to 10-18 year old pupils of varying background and ability. I also have younger brothers aged 14 and 16 who are studying GCSE science and AS level biology. I am currently providing voluntary tuition to them in these subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

Science is a subject which opens people's minds to the way the world around them works. This knowledge is empowering, and those "I get it now!" moments are accompanied by a sense of pride and accomplishment. These valuable moments come at all levels of science education. Each individual student responds differently to different methods of teaching, which means that schools struggle to cater to each individual's needs. I approach education with the view that people learn in different ways, and what works with one individual might not be of use to another. I am a firm believer that science is best learned in context, and is far more fascinating when delivered with historical perspectives, such as stories of discovery and invention. I am happy to provide tuition to all levels of ability, and will provide online tuition for 10 p.h.
