Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher with a primary (7-11) PGCE specialising in modern foreign languages. I also have a BA in French and Italian and spent a year in France and Italy. I have an A level in Welsh and a TEFL qualification. During my time in Europe I found that children had earlier exposure to foreign languages which was the reason for their superior language skills. I want to help give children in this country the same opportunity.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently working as a supply teacher in the South Wales area teaching National Curriculum subjects as well as French. I teach French in two schools for a morning a week and I love it. I also set up and ran after school French clubs in previous schools with great success.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach all National Curriculum subjects however my main passion is teaching languages. I feel my teaching aim is to encourage children to develop a positive attitude towards modern foreign languages in readiness for when it is introduced into the National Curriculum. I believe that having a knowledge of a foreign language can help a child in so many ways, it opens doors to other cultures and also develops a firmer understanding of their mother tongue. I strongly believe that language learning should be fun, my teaching methods concentrate more on communication and I encourage this through games, songs and role-play. I believe that I am a fun and approachable teacher and I like children to feel that they can come to me with problems and for them to feel that no question is a stupid question. If you want your child to have a head start in either French, Welsh, Italian or EFL I can help.
