Sam - Edinburgh tutor

Information About Sam:

Personal Description:

I am a tutor based in Edinburgh. I have been working as a private tutor for the past seven years, both in England and in Scotland as well as more recently working in youth theatre with children and teenagers; teaching English as a Foreign Language and teaching Higher English. I live in central Edinburgh and have a first class degree from Glasgow University as well as a CELTA qualification in teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have an excellent rapport with puils of all ages from young adolescents to adults.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught privately, usually one-to-one, in English History, Politics and Modern Studies at Higher, Intermediate 2, AS and A2 Level over the past seven years. My results have been exemplary with a wide range of pupils and abilities. In addition, I have taught classes in Higher English Literature at Basil Paterson's College; I have taught English as a Foreign Language to teenage and adult groups at the Arch School of English, EAC and Basil Paterson's College.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach differs depending on level, subject and student. IN general for academic tutoring, I have a good familiarity with the syllabus of Higher and A Level subjects. I focus on exam technique, past papers and essay writing skills as well as text work (English Lit.) or source work (History/Politics/Modern Studies). For EFL teaching, I am pupil-led and focus on whatever areas are of interest to the student.
