Anna - Leeds tutor

Information About Anna:

Personal Description:

I am a reliable hardworking individual working to high standards. I thrive in environments which offer me a challenge and allow me to utilize the many and varied skills that I have acquired over the years. I am cheerful and friendly person. I am punctual and learn very quickly.

Teaching Experience:

As a teacher of English I have gained a broad knowledge of teaching English as a Second Language. I had an opportunity to teach children, pupils, teenagers and even students of IT classes. During those years I managed to get many useful techniques and I also improved my personal and technical skills as far as teaching is concerned Since I have got quite huge experience in teaching English as a foreign language I think I could be extremely proactive and at the same time productive as far as it goes. Delivering English sessions in various contexts is nothing 'new' for me as I have already dealt with students of diverse background, cultures, disabilities or ethnicity. Additionally, being a student of English language teaching course gives me a deeper insight into teaching methodologies, learning styles and using , evaluating or adopting materials (if they are available) or just preparing everything from the scratch as I realize that coursebooks and all the learning facilities are not always available for everyone, especially for kids from poor areas. At the moment I am working on a portfolio of teaching materials hoping to develop useful materials for my specific learning and teaching context.

Tutoring Approach:

Since I have started studying at Leeds Met I try to engage myself with as many different activities/ works as possible. For the good beginning I decided to be a Students Rep for my course and I must admit that being a group representative is a great challenge for me as majority of my class mates are international students who come across many different situations but I do my best and always give them a hand if they need it. Additionally I have also joined Headingley learning Centre and I have become a mentor assisting key Stage 2 & 3 pupils with Literacy, Numeracy and ITC skills. The kids are fantastic and the teachers are extremely helpful and always greet me warmly. Observing their behaviour and helping them with different tasks is truly beneficial for me. Since I have got 5 years of teaching experience in Poland (and one year in UK) I must admit that voluntary experience is crucial for my own cognitive development which will result with huge proficiency in my teaching career in the future. The pupils have just started the second session there and this time I work with slightly younger pupils. I m truly amazed! Kids are adorable and so easy going. They are willing to participate in the classes and ask for any kind of help which they need. Sometimes when I just look at them I say to myself-' I wish I could be a kid again' When I was living in Poland I coordinated a language group for students who had some learning difficulties. These were evening classes and I admit that in spite of long hours at school the students were eager to come for an additional hour to enjoy the classes with me. Surprisingly, I am still in touch with majority of them and from the perspective of time I can say that they motivated me to come and continue my studies here in England. I guess, that was a very good decision.
