Anna - Herne Hill tutor

Information About Anna:

Personal Description:

Since reading English Literature and Creative Writing at The University of Warwick, I have travelled the world, worked as a freelance tutor, published stories, exhibited artwork, edited two literary magazines, and won the Surrey Young Business Entrepreneur Award. I have worked on a part-time basis with Tales On Moon Lane, the Walker UK Independent Children's Bookshop of the Year 2008, and now fundraise for the homelessness prevention charity, Shelter.

Teaching Experience:

I've been a freelance tutor since 2007. I specialize in coaching for essay-writing and exam technique, but have also been happy to teach a broad range of subjects outright, from A-level standard History to Primary School Maths. My aim has been to help the student quickly to assimiliate skills and materials necessary to pass the exams, but also over time to develop the kind of personal interests and creativity within the subject-matter that lead to confidence and even flair.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a first class graduate from The University of Warwick who has maintained a post-academic habit of continual research into new fields. So, although I'm best qualified at the subjects listed, a wide range of interests and occupations has prepared me to teach a variety of subjects up to GCSE level. This has led to exploring a more holistic approach to education wherein the development of a student's interests, strengths and capacity to self-direct becomes just as important as troubleshooting their weak points.
