Tutoring Approach:
In general, Mandarin training should include four parts: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Among them, listening and speaking should be a bit more than reading and writing during classes, while reading and writing should be done more in the homework. Different teaching methods should be used for different students:
1) For beginners, we should use more teaching equipments, objects and pictures, so as to help them to remember words by thinking in images, also to make them do simple communication with Chinese.
2) For intermediate students, the teacher should heighten the accuracy of their pronunciation, the grammar as well. In listening part, normal speaking speed can be used, except some difficult sentence; in speaking part, teach them to speak more native; in reading and writing parts, read simple articles or newspaper and to write brief articles are necessary.
3) For advanced students, we need to extend their vocabulary, also some Chinese idioms. In listening part, teacher should use normal speed of speaking and use more complicated sentence; in speaking part, help their Mandarin sounds to be well educated; in reading part, teacher should give more longer articles or chapter of famous novel to students as exercise; in writing part, let students know that write diary in Chinese are helpful, teacher can give any help if they want.
