Francesca - Newmarket tutor

Information About Francesca:

Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Francesca and would love to help your children achieve their goals!

In June 2008 I completed my Primary PGCE at the University of Cambridge achieving Qualified Teacher Status, having previously graduated from the University of Manchester in 2007 with a 2.1 in Psychology. I have worked as a Year 5 class teacher in local Cambridge for three years but I've just starting teaching part time at a private pre-prep school.

I am available weekday evenings and Monday, Thursday and Friday day times during term time and any time during the holidays. I am willing to travel further afield if expenses were covered.

Finally, I don't see teaching as "just a job", it is my passion! I am highly-motivated, caring and will 'give anything a go'!

Teaching Experience:

I am currently working with Nursery to Year 2 but I also have a lot of experience teaching and tutoring children in Years 4, 5 and 6. I absolutely love the challenge and the fact that everyday is different.

Although I have only been a qualified teacher for 3 years, I have worked with children in all aspects of life from a relatively young age.
- I have worked at Center Parcs in the Time Out club since 2005 where I help run activities for children from 3 months to 14 years; I am still working their part time during the holidays.
- I also worked for Kids Unlimited Nurseries from Oct 2004 till 2007 working with children from a 'learning through play' perspective.
- In 2003 and 2004 I worked for the Norfolk Autistic Society with giving respite care to parents of children with Autism and Aspergers Syndrome.
- From 2000-2003 I also helped out in a Harford Manor Special Needs School in Norwich on a voluntary basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that children need to feel comfortable and secure in their surroundings before they are able to put their whole mind into learning. So I would aim to get to know each student well, exploring their own learning style, strengths and areas with need of support. It is also important to make students work towards their own goals, rather than constantly measuring them up to the 'national averages'. However, in times of stress where children are working towards external exams I can help them reach these more standardised aims.
