Nicola - Brentwood tutor

Information About Nicola:

Personal Description:

I graduated from Durham Univerity with a First Class Honours Degree in History in 2005. Although I do not currently work in a history-related role, my interest in the subject remains strong and I read history books on a variety of topics on a regular basis. My specialist subject at university was 20th century history, in particular modern American history (my dissertation was on Martin Luther King), the Cold War, the Second World War and the rise of Hitler. I also studied Chartism extensively. I am an easy-to-approach and friendly person who is keen to pass on my knowledge and interest in the subject to others. My current job involves the writing of lengthy bid submissions and as I such I am also available to teach English and reading to younger children.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified swimming teacher (teaching adults and children) and so I am used to teaching for a wide range of ages and finding new ways of explaining things to suit individuals. At university I worked as a history and english tutor and also as a swimming teacher for disabled children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an enthusiastic, bubbly and friendly nature and I believe that people learn the most when they are enjoying the subject. As such, I try to make my lessons inspiring and tailored to the individual.
