Lucy - Oxford tutor

Information About Lucy:

Personal Description:

Having completed my BA in Physics at Oxford University, I am now studying for a PhD in Mathematical Biology; also at Oxford. Having studied Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Further Maths to A level at King Edward VI Handsworth School, I acheived A grades in all subjects- all marks were above 90%. At GCSE, I obtained 11 A* grades and 2 A grades. I am a full member of Mensa. Other interests include singing and long distance running.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring English, Maths, Physics and Chemistry for 7 years to students aged 11-19.

Weekly tuition within the company "My Child's Education" from September 2008 to January 2009
Regular tuition of English and maths to classes of up to 20 children of age 4-16 years within branches of the company 'English and Maths tuition'. (ongoing in University holidays)

Other relevant experience includes working with handicapped toddlers on a voluntary basis, and running various after school and lunchtime clubs for the lower school.

Tutoring Approach:

My main aim is to inspire students to be as enthusiastic about their studies as I am. Developing a real and lasting flair for more difficult subjects is a passion of mine. Having left school recently myself, I feel I can relate to the students, perhaps better than an older tutor. I believe that to succeed, a student needs to practice as many questions as possible and be familiar with exam papers. I use a range of resources, depending on the student's individual learning style and needs.
