Personal Description:

Experienced personable general teaching council registered former Principal teacher. I have many years experience teaching to examination level, across the entire age and level stages, using a student-centered approach which involves learning through problem solving activities and IT/on-line resources. I have enhanced police disclosure from my previous employer.

Teaching Experience:

Many years experience on both a one to one and whole class teaching. Particular interests include the use of technology and ICT in education and formative assessment. I have other teaching-related post graduate qualifications as well as my subject and teaching qualifications, and research in the area of the psychology of learning processes and its intersection with pedagogical practice.

Tutoring Approach:

An approach based on active learning and problem solving to develop a deeper understanding and analytical skills base. Whilst many tutors currently advertising have degree qualifications, I believe that a teaching qualification is important as a tutor needs to be particularly skilled in helping students to understand difficult or problematic areas of a course where subject knowledge alone is not enough to help them bridge the understanding gap. Here, teaching experience is as important as subject knowledge. I am registered and qualified to teach the subjects I also tutor.

• Post grad qualifications in Teaching, management, psychology
• Undergraduate qualifications in Physiology
