Information About Rebecca:

Personal Description:

My name is Becci and I am a mature student at the University of Kent. I study Cultural Studies which is a multi-displinary subject which means I have experience in a variety of fields including Sociology, Media Studies and Politics as well as English. I live in Canterbury and enjoy cycling, swimming, foraging, cooking, reading and writing. After I have finished my degree I hope to do a PGCE.

Teaching Experience:

I helped tutor a family friend through their GCSE English language and literature coursework and exams and they passed with an A.
I also tutored my mum through her Adult Education Literacy course.

I have worked with a young Deaf girl, accompanying her to school and back every day in the taxi and would help her with her spelling and vocabulary whilst on the journey. Although this wasn't a teaching position as such, I found it has enhanced my teaching ability as I had to think out of the box and creatively in order to engage with the girl.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone has different ways of understanding and processing information that is given to them and I am keen to adapt my teaching style to the needs of the learner. I am very patient and empathetic towards those who have difficulty with concentration and memory. As such I try to make the sessions creative and varied, taking input from the learner as to what works and what doesn't.
I am also happy to have sessions with mature learners as well as younger ages.
