Information About Katy:
Personal Description:
I am a friendly, patient tutor used to working with children, teenagers and adults. I have taught for the last nine years in various schools, primary and secondary, in specialist music schools, at home and at my students' homes. My aim is to make the lessons as fun and engaging as possible and to tailor them to the student's specific needs. As a musician, I perform regularly in various bands, solo and as an accompanist.
Teaching Experience:
I have nine years experience as a private piano/music tutor and worked for four years as a peripatetic music teacher for Barnet Music Services. I have taught A Level music in the classroom at Woodhouse College, Barnet and spent the last three years as a music/piano teacher specialising in jazz at Ecole Koenig in Paris. I currently teach music privately and at The City of London Academy, Southwark.
Tutoring Approach:
I very much want my students to enjoy their lessons at the same time as making progress in their subject. I ensure I am well prepared for each lesson and am thoroughly committed to helping the student achieve his/her aims. In turn, I expect the student to be equally as committed to the lessons, complete tasks set for the next week and most of all give 100% during the lessons.
