Information About Maiko:
Personal Description:
I am a second year Psychology student at the University of York. I am an open-minded, patient and highly motivated person with some experiences in tutoring. I am Japanese, so my native language is Japanese, but I am also fluent in English.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught English (as a foreign language), Mathes and Japanese before. I also helped some students get accustomed to entrance exam situations. People whom I taught these subjects varied from six years old to 65 years old.
Tutoring Approach:
I always try to keep in mind how I learned what I am teaching and what I struggled with when I studied what I am teaching. Looking through students' eyes often helps me understand better ways to teach and also makes the sessions more enjoyable.
I would like the students to not only study and memorise facts but actually learn for themselves. So I will try to make sure that I explain things properly until the student understand.
I may take different approach depending on the student's character, motivation and understanding.
