Information About Joanne:

Personal Description:

My name is Joanne Forbes, I am 22 years old and moved to leeds last year after doing my degree in English Language Studies at Central Lancashire University in Preston. I am originally from manchester and I am hoping to become a qualified teacher in a couple of years after I do my PGCE next year.
I am a very friendly person with a strong interest in reading, my particular favourites include Jane Austin and Dan Brown. I am also a keen swimmer and have an interest in music.

Teaching Experience:

At the moment I do not hold a teaching qualification but I have been working as a supply teacher for keystage recruiment for the past couple of months. I have worked at the City of Leeds school since May 2008 covering year 7 - 11 English classes.
I have also done a couple days volunteer work at Raynville Primary School assisting in a year 3 class.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that tutoring should be a worthwhile and fun experience. Thats why I feel it is important to pin point a pupils strengths and weaknesess and work out the key areas which need to be improved on. For learning to be successful, I feel it is essential to find a balance between making learning an enjoyable experience while still taking into account the aims and objectives that need to be studied.

Qualifications:

• English Language Studies degree
• 3 A levels: English Language, History, Sociology
• 10 Gcses: English, Maths, Science, History, IT, Art, French, Religious Sudies
