Adam - Shepherd's Bush tutor

Information About Adam:

Personal Description:

I am a young tutor who is very eager to help others get to grips with the principles of English/Latin/Ancient Greek grammar and syntax. I also teach philosophy (which I studied at Oxford) and have published material in this area.

I am a friendly person, and as a recent Oxford graduate I am familiar with serious academic work and discipline. I believe that I am very good at making complex subject matter comprehensible to other people. I am also passionate about the subjects I have studied and believe I can inspire this passion in others.

Teaching Experience:

I have a CELTA qualification in teaching English as a foreign language. I have taught to non-native speakers from many different backgrounds. I love being able to help others improve their grasp of English.

I have also tutored in Ancient Greek (one-to-one) for Westminster Tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is serious but patient; I understand the difficulty of the subjects I propose to teach. I also take seriously my responsibility to instruct and enlighten. But I believe in adapting to the needs of each student and that means developing personal relationships as well as academic ones. I find that learning takes place most effectively when teacher and student get on well together. And so I try to get to know the people I teach.
