Information About Muriel:

Personal Description:

I studied Law in France (Aix en provence) and Sweden (Stockholm). I have 2 postgraduate diplomas and a qualification as a Conseiller Juridique in France. I decided to move to London in 1999 and I have worked in International Law Firms since then. The Law Firm I work for is in the City, near Liverpool Street.

I am passionate about Art and regularly follow lectures at the Courtauld Institute of Art, I also enjoy learning other languages.

Teaching Experience:

I have a BAFA certificate which is required to be able to supervise a group of 12 children from age 3 to 15 in holiday camps. I have worked in that role every summer in the French Alps, throughout my education. During that time, teaching was a daily exercise, not so much on a particular topic or subject in an academic way, but through games, team sports and other activities.

As part of my postgraduate diploma, I had to present and teach to 4th year students on chosen topics. The subjects taught were business law related (principally taxation).

Tutoring Approach:

I have not been a tutor in the UK and have only helped out family friends with French lessons in the past. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thought of taking it further.

I see teaching French as a language an opportunity to help someone get to grips with a very difficult language in a pleasant and effective way, and discover the cultural diversity within the French speaking countries.

Depending on the academic curriculum, on the individual level, on the personality and personal interests of each student, I will endeavour to design the sessions so as to ensure individual level are matched and individual goals reached.
